I Blog so I Will not Scream

During the day I am reminded over and over how much I don’t fit in with this whole ‘Corporate America’ business. I’ve never been one to be coy or play games. I ask for what I want, tell you the truth when you ask me a question, admit and apologize when I’ve made a mistake and show gratitude when folks are nice to me. One would think these are all admirable qualities that were instilled in me on a little dirt road and in a little white church as I grew up in a little country town. One would think. In ‘Corporate America’ this is thought of as being too direct, lacking tact and kissing up.
I’ve been with the same company for going on eight years. I’ve seen people come in one way and become someone different to move up, I’ve seen people try entirely too hard to be someone and/or something they aren’t, I’ve seen it all. I can’t help but wonder where these people grew up. Didn’t your momma teach you not to act like that? Didn’t your daddy teach you about honesty and the rewards of a hard day’s work and a job done right? Sometimes I feel physically ill watching the nonsense, which I try to stay out of mind you though sometimes can’t help it.
Whatever.
I cry silent tears as I sit here with hope and genuine pride in my work caught in my throat, for it has nowhere to go, no ears to hear and no hearts to find.

Post Day Release Day

Welp, yesterday was the big release of Timeless Love and other than my husband’s vasectomy and getting served with foreclosure papers, it was pretty uneventful. Oh, yeah, the foreclosure bit. My husband lost his job last year and we got in a bad spot. We’ve actually been working with a lawyer since last year so I don’t know what the hell is going on to be honest. I can tell you this, though. If I found out we paid that lawyer 2,500 for nothing, I will have his balls. It’s all been a very awful process. I resent my husband for losing his job and getting us into this mess, I want to keep my home but am pissed that we’re $80K upside down, like most of Florida. My biggest fear is that we have to leave and still owe money. You would think, with all of the issues in the market, they would want us to stay if we want to, which we do. We’ve been ready to make payments since Dec of last year but the lawyer told us not to. Again, his balls=mine. I hate that we got this info on a Friday night. How about Thursday night when I could call the guy and find out what the hell is going on?
Well, anyway, the real solution here would be for all of you to purchase Timeless Love and then Jenny Bent will take note and think, Oh yes, I remember her query letter for that YA book, call me, sign me, get me a book deal, make us (as in she and I) lots of money, and then I’ll move back out to Bryceville to my dream house. Hey – a girl can dream, yes? Well, for now, I’ll just take it as it comes, be thankful that my family and I are still together and as long as I have my laptop and internet, I don’t care where we live. Easy to please, that’s me. (hehehehehehe)

Please come by the Blog on Monday for a chance to win Timeless Love. The summer blog hop should be pretty good and if the summer heat won’t make you sweat, I can think of a few ways to help you out.

Until Monday, my loves!
